2022 AL MVP Odds Favor Shohei Ohtani Slightly Over Aaron Judge Heading Into Second Half of Season

Updated:

The 2022 MLB All-Star Game came and went, ending in the American League's eighth straight victory at the Midsummer Classic. With the 2022 season scheduled to resume on Thursday, all attention has been diverted back to this year's AL Most Value Player race.

The 2022 AL MVP competition has mostly been a two-person race between New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge and Los Angeles Angels dual-threat Shohei Ohtani. Fortunately, the latest betting odds shed some light on which player has the better shot at winning the award.

FanDuel Sportsbook's latest AL MVP odds slightly favor Ohanti at +100 odds due to his dominance on both sides of the ball. When it comes to the batter's box, the 28-year-old has 19 home runs and 56 RBIs through 89 games while slashing .258/.348/.486.

Fortunately, he's been just as strong on the mound. Ohtani is 9-4 through 15 starts, having pitched to a 2.38 ERA and 0.989 WHIP — both career-highs if he maintains this pace.

Judge might no longer be the odds leader, but he's far from out of the race at +125 odds. He leads the Majors in home runs (33), runs scored (74) and total bases (209), meaning he should remain in the thick of this race until the very end.

With no one else really close to either Ohtani or Judge's odds, here's how the rest of the latest 2022 AL MVP odds are shaping up.
