Top 12 Fantasy Football Defense Rankings for Week 4

Updated:

More than pretty much any other position in fantasy football, finding the right defense is about finding the right matchup. And there are some juicy matchups to target in Week 4.

Here are our top-12 fantasy football defense rankings for Week 4.

Fantasy Football Defense Rankings Week 4

12. Washington Football Team (at ATL)

11. Baltimore Ravens (at DEN)

10. New York Giants (at NO)

9. Green Bay Packers (vs PIT)

8. Cincinnati Bengals (vs JAX)

The Cincinnati Bengals defense might be the surprise of the season so far. This unit looked like a sieve entering the year, but the Bengals are only allowing 18.0 points per game (PPG), which is the seventh-best mark in football. Cincinnati also owns the league's seventh-best defensive DVOA and has pressured opposing QBs at a top-five mark (26 pressures). It's not like it's come against a total cupcake of a schedule, either. The Bengals held the explosive Minnesota Vikings' offense to 24 points in Week 1. Against a Jacksonville Jaguars' offense that has turned it over 9 times (the worst total in the league) Cincinnati should be in for another huge week.

7. Chicago Bears (vs DET)

6. New Orleans Saints (vs NYG)

5. Tennessee Titans (at NYJ)

4. Miami Dolphins (vs IND)

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at NE)

After a decent start to the year, Mac Jones has come crashing back to earth. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defense has been similarly underwhelming recently, but this New England Patriots' offense is not built to attack them. Tampa is still elite against the run, ranking No. 4 in rush yards allowed per game and No. 5 in rush defense DVOA. The Bucs are beatable through the air, but Mac Jones probably isn't going to make TB pay. Look for the pass-rush to get home against an offensive line that has yet to meet expectations.

2. Indianapolis Colts (at MIA)

1. Buffalo Bills (vs HOU)

This one is too easy. The Buffalo Bills' defense has been tremendous to open the year, surrendering 14.7 points per game (PPG) through three weeks. This red-hot unit will now face rookie quarterback Davis Mills, who is making his second career NFL start. It will not go well. This one should be a rout.
