LSU Opens as Slight Home Favorite Over Florida State in Early Odds for Week 1

Updated:

There's still a way to go before college football is back, but that hasn't stopped fans from looking ahead to the 2022 NCAAF season. There are already plenty of intriguing matchups slated for Week 1, including a showdown between the Florida State Seminoles and LSU Tigers.

FanDuel Sportsbook already has early odds on the matchup and is currently listing the Tigers as the slight favorite over the Seminoles.

LSU vs Florida State 2022 Spread

FanDuel Sportsbook is currently listing LSU as the 4.5-point home favorites with -110 odds to cover the spread. Meanwhille, Florida State also has -110 odds to cover as the 4.5-point underdogs.

The truth of that matter is that both schools could use a win to kick off the 2022 campaign after the years that they just had.

After opening the 2021 season as the No. 16-ranked school, LSU ended up going 6-7 and finished at the bottom of the SEC's West Division with a 3-5 divisional record. Brian Kelly is the new head coach and should bring some improvements after leading Notre Dame to College Football Playoff appearances in 2018 and 2020.

Florida State had a similar season, going 5-7 overall and finishing as one of the weaker teams in the ACC. Head coach Mike Norvell could be on the hot seat after back-to-back sub-.500 seasons, so it'll be interesting to see his plan to bounce back.

Even though the Tigers are the early favorites, it's been the Seminoles that have owned their head-to-head series. Florida State is 7-2 in nine all-time matchups against LSU and will do everything it can to make it an eighth victory.
