List of Astros GM Candidates Emerges

Updated:

The Houston Astros' roster is pretty much set at this point, one thing they still need is a general manager. It's been more than two months since James Click was shockingly fired a week after Houston won the World Series, and the team is still searching for his replacement.

According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, the Astros are actively interviewing candidates and have narrowed down their search to a few names.

According to Rosenthal, the list of potential replacements includes notable baseball executives such as Michael Hill (former Miami Marlins president of baseball ops), Dana Brown (Atlanta Braves VP of scouting) and Bobby Evans (former San Francisco Giants GM), all of whom have a wealth of leadership experience.

As expected, Houston has had no trouble attracting top candidates for the position. The Astros have been one of the most successful organizations in baseball recently, winning four pennants and two World Series in the last six seasons.

In the meantime, assistant GMs Andrew Ball and Bill Firkus will continue minding the store until Crane settles on a replacement. Thankfully for Astros fans, the uncertainty in Houston's front office hasn't done much to diminish the team's championship hopes for 2023, as the team currently boasts the best title odds (+600) on FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB odds.
