Here's How the Eagles Can Clinch Home-Field Advantage in Playoffs This Week

Week 16 didn't go quite as planned for the Philadelphia Eagles, who were forced to play without star quarterback Jalen Hurts and dropped their second game of the year. Despite the loss, Philadelphia is still in the driver's seat in the NFC at 13-2.

The Eagles once again have a shot at clinching the No. 1 seed in Week 17.

Philadelphia Eagles Playoff Seed

Philadelphia simply needs a win on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints to lock up home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. The two other routes to the No. 1 seed are an Eagles tie combined with a Minnesota Vikings loss /tie, or a Dallas Cowboys loss/tie plus a San Francisco 49ers loss/tie plus a Vikings loss/tie.

Those two paths are fairly complicated, but Philadelphia won't even have to worry about outside help with a win in Week 17. Backup QB Gardner Minshew showed he's very capable of getting this team the victory it needs if Hurts is forced to sit again. Minshew threw for 355 yards and accounted for 3 total touchdowns against Dallas in a close 40-34 defeat during Week 16.

Hurts being available would obviously boost the Eagles' chances on Sunday, but keeping the QB healthy for the playoffs is the main priority. His status will be a major story to watch leading up to kickoff.
