Giants Get Disappointing LaMonte Wade Jr. Injury Return Update

Updated:
After being a surprising scratch from the San Francisco Giants' lineup this week, it's since been revealed LaMonte Wade Jr. is dealing with a knee injury. The Giants officially placed the outfielder on the injured list on Friday due to inflammation in his left knee.
Though that ailment doesn't sound super serious, it appears Wade could miss significant time.
LaMonte Wade Jr. Injury Update
Manager Gabe Kapler told reporters Sunday he expects Wade to be out "at least a few weeks." That would be a massive blow to a club that's been repeatedly bit by the injury bug in the early going.
Health issues have plagued Wade this season. He's been limited to just 10 games, recording a meager 1 home run and 5 RBIs while slashing .240/.375/.360.
This is far from an ideal start for the 28-year-old coming off of a breakout 2021 campaign that saw him earn a vote for NL MVP. Wade's absence couldn't come at a worse time, as the Giants have dropped their last three games and currently sit third in the NL West at 22-17.
They'll now have to make do without Wade for a potentially sizable chunk of games. San Francisco is currently +550 (No. 3) to win the division crown, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NL West odds.
