Packers Week 1 Opponent for 2023 Season

The Green Bay Packers' Week 1 matchup for the 2023 campaign takes place on the road against the rival Chicago Bears. Last season, they opened with a road game on Sunday afternoon against the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers fell by a score of 23-7 as they averaged only 5.5 yards per play and turned the ball over twice.

Packers' 2023 Strength of Schedule

According to Sharp Football Analysis, the Packers have the 12th-easiest schedule in the NFL for the 2023-24 season. This is based on the projected win totals of Green Bay's opponents for the upcoming campaign. Green Bay ranks just ahead of the middle of the pack, which gives quarterback Jordan Love a chance to make an impression in what will be his first full season as the starter.

The Packers' 2023-24 opponents went a combined 112-125-1 last season. They'll face a trio of teams in the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams that lost at least 12 games during the 2022-23 campaign.

FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds currently list the Packers at 7.5 wins, with -122 odds on the over and +100 odds on the under. The Packers won eight games during the 2022-23 season and have tallied at least eight victories in 13 of the last 15 NFL campaigns.

This offseason has been all about the quarterback position for the Packers as the franchise said goodbye to long-time starter Aaron Rodgers. Fourth-year pro Jordan Love will now take over with just one career NFL start to his name. Love is backed up by a solid running back duo, but his receiving core is made up of one unproven player after another. He is going to go through some ups and downs, which could lead to more unexpected losses than it does surprising wins. The NFC North is a division filled with established talent and I don't see how the Packers will be able to keep up in 2023.

Bet – Packers: Under 7.5 Wins (+100)

In the Super Bowl market, the Packers are tied (with the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks) for the 15th-best odds at +4000. They only trail the Philadelphia Eagles (+850), San Francisco 49ers (+950), Dallas Cowboys (+1400), Detroit Lions (+2200) and New Orleans Saints (+3500) in the NFC.
