What Seed Are the Nuggets in the 2023 NBA Playoffs?

The Nuggets ended the regular season with a 53-29 record, which was good enough to finish No. 1 in the Western Conference. As is tradition, the 1-seed faces the 8-seed in the first round of the playoffs. The 8-seed could end up being one of two NBA teams; the New Orleans Pelicans or Oklahoma City Thunder.

The No. 8 seed will be determined via the NBA's Play-In Tournament. The loser of the Lakers-Timberwolves matchup will take on the winner of the Pelicans-Thunder showdown. The victor in that game will earn the final playoff spot in the West and a date with the Nuggets in the opening round.

Who Are the Nuggets Playing in the 2023 Playoffs?

As the 1-seed, the Nuggets will play the to-be-determined 8-seed in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. This will be a typical best-of-seven series that follows the 2-2-1-1-1 format. That means the better seed (Denver) will host Games 1 and 2, plus Games 5 and 7 if those are necessary. The worse seed (New Orleans or OKC) hosts Games 3 and 4, plus Game 6 if that is necessary.

Looking ahead, if the Nuggets win this series and advance, they would face either the 4-seed Phoenix Suns or the 5-seed Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference semifinals, as the NBA playoff matchups do not re-seed in each round.
