Davante Adams Fantasy Football Outlook 2022 (What's Life Like After Aaron Rodgers?)

Davante Adams finished as WR2 in PPR leagues last year, but he'll be donning new threads and playing for a quarterback not named Aaron Rodgers for the first time in his fantasy football career.

Fantasy managers are eager to see if his production levels can remain sky-high in this new environment. Taking a look at his average draft position (ADP), Adams is the fourth wide receiver off the board and 10th overall, meaning managers are expecting another dominant season.

There's a lot to consider about Adams' change of scenery in joining the Las Vegas Raiders. The most obvious is the addition of new weapons to compete for reps. Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow combined for 158 targets a year ago and were top-15 players at their respective positions.

To put that in comparison, Adams saw 169 targets in Green Bay's offense while no other receiver eclipsed 60-plus. That was good for for 31.6% of the Packers' target share, the second-highest mark in football. In fact, he's ranked top three in that category every year since 2018.

Should that scare off fantasy managers? Absolutely not.

Despite Renfrow's successful run as WR11 last year, Adams is a different class of player. He's arguably the best wide receiver in football, behind only Cooper Kupp. And, more talent surrounding you tends to equal better opportunities.

Adams likely won't see a 30-plus percent target share this year, but the Raiders threw the ball a heck of a lot more than his former team.

What bodes well for Adams is the Raiders' pace of play. Green Bay ranked just 15th in total pass attempts last year, compared to the Raiders at seventh. Las Vegas also passed the ball at the seventh-highest clip (60.3%), compared to Green Bay's 16th ranking.

Adams is stepping into another WR1 role, just on a different team. A team that likes to air the ball out more than the Packers, and one with better surrounding talent to give him more opportunities.

Will there be a slight downturn in his target share? Yes. Will that unseat him from a top-5 WR status? Absolutely not.

Projections from the NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook are also nice and high on Adams. He's T-4th to lead the NFL in receiving, and second to lead the league in receptions. Considering he's averaged 8.7 targets per game over his career, his baseline will be to average 147 targets. At last year's pace of a 72.8% catch rate and 12.6 yards per reception, 147 targets projects him to get about 108 receptions and 1,356 receiving yards.

Is Davante Adams a Good Fantasy Football Pick?

So with all said and done, is Adams a good fantasy pick? Absolutely. He's one of the best wide receivers in football, and ranks No. 3 in The Duel's PPR fantasy football rankings at wideout.

He's a bonafide WR1 threat, with only slight concerns that the new talent around him will result in a minuscule downturn of opportunity. Even with that talent, Adams will finish the year as a top-5 player at his position.
