Blue Jays vs Tigers Prediction & Pick
The Blue Jays earned a win on Friday despite not having a pitching advantage entering the contest. That is not the case here, though. Kevin Gausman gets the nod for Toronto as he has posted a 3.04 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 17 starts (7-4 record). He leads the American League with 146 strikeouts, too.
Gausman has logged a 3.00 ERA across three career starts at Comerica Park and none of the three Detroit hitters with at least 10 at-bats against him is batting over .231 in that scenario. It's not going to be easy for Tigers pitcher Matt Manning (2-1, 4.84 ERA) to match hat Gausman can do out there.
Of course, it helps that Gausman is backed up by an offense that is capable of erupting for double-digit runs at any time. The Blue Jays rank 10th in slugging percentage (.420) and roster five players with at least 12 home runs on the year. Look for the road team to cruise to a victory on Saturday.
Final Score Prediction: Blue Jays: 7 | Tigers: 2
Blue Jays vs Tigers Best Bet
This is a matchup Gausman has dominated once this season and he should have trouble doing so again on Saturday. The veteran tallied 11 strikeouts over 8.0 innings when he faced the Tigers inside the Rogers Centre on April 12. Detroit enters this contest averaging the 10th-most batter strikeouts per game (8.93) and having tallied the sixth-most total strikeouts against right-handed pitchers (607).
Bet: Kevin Gausman Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-134)
