3 Best Prop Bets for Lakers vs Warriors NBA Game 1 on May 2 (Can Los Angeles Slow Down Red-Hot Curry?)

Updated:

Tuesday's slate of NBA postseason games includes a Game 1 between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers. FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NBA odds list the Warriors as the 4.5-point home favorite with the projected total set at 228.

Here are three of the best NBA player prop bets for the Lakers-Warriors game, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.

Warriors vs Lakers Player Props

1. Stephen Curry — Points: Under 31.5 (-102)

Stephen Curry has been up to his usual antics lately, averaging 32.1 points while shooting 40.0% from three-point range over his last 10 games. Although he's finished with the Over on this prop three times in his last four games, I don't see it happening again tonight. The Lakers have done a great job at containing Curry over the last few years, holding him to a 24.8 PPG clip over his last 10 encounters with Los Angeles. Furthermore, he went over 31.5 points just twice over that span. With the Lakers allowing the second-lowest three-point percentage this year (34.2%), I see it more likely that Curry finishes with the Under.

2. LeBron James — Assists: Over 5.5 (-146)

After averaging 6.8 assists in the regular season, LeBron James' playmaking dropped to a 5.2 APG clip against the Memphis Grizzlies. Having said that, I still see him finishing with more than 5.5 assists in Game 1. With a total of 228 points, there'll likely be a lot of offense tonight and James must set up his teammates if the Lakers hope to keep pace. The four-time NBA Champion is also averaging 7.3 APG in his last 10 clashes with the Warriors, going over 5.5 helpers six times — including in each of the last two meetings. Playing against Curry clearly brings out the best in him, so look for James to step up his playmaking.

3. Kevon Looney — Rebounds: Under 12.5 (-120)

Kevon Looney was a rebounding machine against the Sacramento Kings, averaging 15.1 boards across the seven-game series. He's gone over 12.5 rebounds in each of his last five games, however, don't count on that happening against the Lakers. For starters, Los Angeles surrenders the 12th-fewest rebounds on the road. Secondly, Looney is only averaging 7.8 RPG in his last 10 encounters with the Lakers, finishing with 12 or fewer rebounds seven times. Having to deal with respectable rebounders like Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and Jarred Vanderbilt all night, it's clear that the Under is the better option.
