Andy Dalton Fantasy Outlook Paints Viable Streaming Option After Jameis Winston Injury Update

There's a good chance that the New Orleans Saints will be without Jameis Winston when they face the Minnesota Vikings in London, England. The Saints announced on Friday that the starting quarterback was doubtful for Week 4 as he deals with a slew of injuries.

Players listed as doubtful rarely end up playing, so it's more than likely that backup QB Andy Dalton will start against the Vikings. As a result, Dalton's fantasy outlook is rising as a potential option for Winston owners and quarterback streamers alike.

Dalton is one of the most experienced backup QBs in the league, so the Saints are fortunate to have him. The three-time Pro-Bowler has started in 148 NFL games over his 12-year career, throwing for over 35,000 yards with 226 touchdowns to 135 interceptions.

Keeping that in mind, you aren't getting prime Dalton anymore. He's turning 35 years old and has only started in 15 games over the previous two seasons. His 2021 campaign was spent with the Chicago Bears, averaging a career-worst 189.4 passing yards over eight games (six starts) along with eight TDs to nine INTs.

Nevertheless, Dalton did face the Vikings as recently as Week 18 of the 2021 season. He went 33-of-48 from the pocket for 325 passing yards and a touchdown with two picks. His performance was good for 17.7 fantasy points, landing him in the QB13 spot for the week.

Will Dalton win you the week on his own? Probably not, but the Vikings are giving up the 15th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season, so the opportunity is for Dalton to be a viable streaming option, especially in larger leagues.
