Former Detroit Tiger, Arizona Diamondback and current Washington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer is one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball. Through his 12 seasons seasons in the MLB, Scherzer has posted an astounding career 2.92 ERA.

But arguably his most impressive all-around game came in 2019, when he went off against his former ball club to the tune of 20 strikeouts.

Even though Scherzer didn't need much run support on the legs of 20 Ks in one performance, the Nats ended up hammering the Tigers, 8-2 in this one. Scherzer's 20 strikeouts were a 2016 season-high mark by quite some margin, with 11 Ks proving the second-most he'd pitch in one game for that season.

The seven-time MLB All-Star and three-time Cy Young winner is surely itching to get back on the mound as soon as the MLB makes it return following delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
