Since the College Football Playoff was instituted back in 2014, there have been numerous complaints raised about the process from analysts and fans alike. While the process to arrive at the four playoff teams will likely never satisfy everyone, it has done some things well.

For example, for the first time since 2014, every major conference has had at least one team appear in the College Football Playoff Rankings (which this season were released for the first time on Nov. 5) now that Appalachian State clocked in at No. 25 for the Sun Belt conference.

Appalachian State's 20-15 victory against South Carolina in Week 11 proved this team belonged, and with remaining games against Georgia State, Texas State and Troy, the Mountaineers certainly have a chance to finish at 11-1 in the regular season.

Of course, barring some catastrophic fall by the rest of the top 25, Appalachian State won't be making this year's College Football Playoff. But the fact that a team from the Sun Belt conference has officially cracked the top 25 in the College Football Playoff Rankings is certainly a positive for college football as a whole.
