White Sox Get Good News on Eloy Jimenez Injury Update

Updated:

Chicago White Sox leftfielder Eloy Jimenez hasn't had much luck staying healthy during his young career, being limited to just 121 games played since the 2020 MLB season. A hamstring issue has left him on the injured list since the last week of April, however, things have begun trending in the right direction.

White Sox manager Tony La Russa spoke to the media on Sunday, saying that Jimenez "is getting ready to play games again." The 25-year-old still needs to finish his rehab assignment, which he could resume on Tuesday with Triple-A Charlotte.

Eloy Jimenez Injury Update

Jimenez had initially begun his rehab assignment nearly two weeks ago, but had to hit a pause after dealing with some "normal leg soreness." That issue seems to be a thing of the past and it might only be a few weeks before he's back in the White Sox's starting lineup.

Fans are looking forward to seeing if Jimenez can rebound after a poor start to the 2022 campaign. While he has a home run and seven RBIs in 11 games (36 at-bats), he's only batting .222 and has already struck out 10 times.

The White Sox are currently 31-33 after 64 contests, sitting five games back of the Minnesota Twins for the AL Central lead. If Jimenez can find a way to return to his Silver-Slugger form when he comes back, there's more than enough time for Chicago to make up the difference and take over the division.

2022 AL Central Odds

Even though the White Sox have some ground to cover, winning their division is a realistic goal. FanDuel Sportsbook is giving Chicago +145 odds to win the AL Central in 2022, which only trails the Twins (+115).
