Updated Vikings Quarterback Depth Chart After Nick Mullens Trade

Updated:

There's no denying that Kirk Cousins will be the Minnesota Vikings' starting quarterback once the 2022 NFL season begins. However, his backup is just about anyone's guess. Sean Mannion and Kellen Mond have been battling in training camp for the role, but neither QB has produced results that the coaching staff likes.

Looking to up the competition level, the Vikings have added another signal-caller to the mix: Nick Mullens. Minnesota acquired the former C-USA Offensive Player of the Year from the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday in exchange for a conditional 2024 seventh-round pick.

While the trade won't make or break the Vikings' season, it does give them a more reliable backup option behind Cousins. If the team's No. 1 QB does get injured at any point this fall, they can rest easier knowing that Mullens has the experience to step in.
