Twins Select Star Third Baseman With No. 8 Pick in Latest Mock Draft

The Minnesota Twins are primed with a top-10 pick ahead of the 2022 MLB Draft. That gives the Twins a great shot to add a talented youngster to the organization who could end up being a franchise cornerstone.
In the latest mock draft at MLB.com, Minnesota lands a stud third baseman who's tore it up in the college ranks.

Twins Mock Draft
Jim Callis has the Twins selecting LSU standout Jacob Berry with the eighth pick. Callis praises Berry for his hitting prowess, though the Tigers 3B/RF has some work to do on defense.
"Like most teams at the top, the Twins are zeroed in on position players. Berry may have the best combination of hitting ability, power and plate discipline in the Draft, though his defensive limitations give some teams pause."
- Jim Callis
Berry had an electric freshman year for the Arizona Wildcats in 2021, recording 19 doubles, 17 home runs and a whopping 70 RBI while slashing .352/.439/.676.
He then elected to transfer to LSU, where he kept up the production this season. He hit 15 home runs and recorded 47 RBI while slashing .381/.474/.661 across 49 games. However, the 21-year-old is now out indefinitely with a broken finger suffered in practice.
Berry's injury may hurt his draft stock a little after previously being considered the top overall prospect, but that's great news for the Twins, who could land a star slugger near the end of the top 10.
