Tom Izzo All-Time NCAA Tournament Record

Tom Izzo owns an impressive 54-23 record in the men's NCAA Tournament during his coaching career. He ranks No. 7 all-time for wins, trailing Bill Self (55) but ahead of Jim Calhoun (49). All of Izzo's March Madness wins have come at just one school -- Michigan State -- as well.

The 2023 NCAA Tournament will mark Izzo's 15th appearance in the Sweet 16 round. He first led the Spartans there in 1998 during his third season at the helm. Izzo has won 10 times in the Sweet 16, the most recent being in 2019 over No. 12 seed LSU.

Tom Izzo has been to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament eight times in his career. He first appeared with the Spartans in this round in 1999, but the team saw its tourney run cut short then by Duke. Izzo's helped his team win twice in the Final Four, the most recent of which was in 2009.

How Many National Championships Does Tom Izzo Have?

Tom Izzo has won the national championship once in his career so far. He and Michigan State cut down the nets in 2000 after defeating 13-seed Florida in the final game of March Madness. That was just the Spartans' second national championship ever, joining the 1979 squad as the only teams in school history to ever win the tourney.

Izzo's made two national championship appearances all-time. After winning in 2000, he helped Michigan State make the final game again in 2009. This time went differently, however, as the Spartans fell to No. 3 seed North Carolina. That remains Izzo's most recent national championship appearance.
