The Phillies and Padres have been close to being evenly matched over the last few years. The two NLCS foes have met 25 times since 2018, resulting in 14 victories for Philadelphia — including four wins in seven meetings this season.

Even though the Padres have the home-field advantage here, I like the Phillies' chances of making the World Series. For starters, the Phillies are an impressive 7-2 in their last nine trips to Petco Park, indicating that they can definitely handle the Padres in their home stadium.

Sure, the Dodgers were the best regular-season team this year and the Padres beat them, but the Phillies eliminated the defending World Series champs just as easily. Everything's clicking at the right time for Philly and I see Rob Thomson's club winning a close-fought NLCS.
