Jake Odorizzi Scratched From Saturday's Start With Concerning Injury

The Atlanta Braves hope to trim their three-game deficit in the NL East when they host the Miami Marlins on Saturday. Jake Odorizzi was supposed to start on the mound for Atlanta, but that's no longer the case as the veteran hurler has been temporarily sidelined with a concerning injury.
Braves insider Justin Toscano reports that Odorizzi is missing Saturday's game due to arm fatigue. Toscano likens the situation to fellow Atlanta pitcher Kyle Wright, who missed about a week of action with arm fatigue in August.
The Braves scratched Jake Odorizzi, who was set to start Saturday’s game, because of arm fatigue. Bryce Elder will start in his place.

Odorizzi’s situation is seen as similar to that of Kyle Wright, who had arm fatigue last month. Odorizzi will start a game in Seattle.
Jake Odorizzi Injury Update
While Odorizzi's injury is concerning, it's not all bad news. Toscano adds that the plan is for the veteran to pitch against the Seattle Mariners when the Braves face them in a three-game series beginning on Friday, Sept. 9.
With the MLB postseason looming, Atlanta needs Odorizzi to be at 100% if winning back-to-back World Series titles is the goal. The 32-year-old right-hander has had his ups and downs since being acquired from the Houston Astros last month, going 1-2 with a 4.26 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP in five starts.
In the meantime, Bryce Elder draws the start against the Marlins on Saturday. He hasn't pitched in an MLB game since Aug. 14, which was also against Miami. Fortunately, Elder looked strong in that game, allowing one run on three hits while striking out 10 batters over seven innings in Atlanta's 3-1 victory.
