Dark Horse Picks to Win 2023 RBC Canadian Open at Oakdale Golf & CC in Toronto on FanDuel Sportsbook

Updated:

Following Viktor Hovland's extra holes win over Denny McCarthy in the Memorial Tournament, the 156 PGA pros head north to Toronto for the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. Six of the top 30 players in the world rankings top the field and odds board; Rory McIlroy, Matt Fitzpatrick, Sam Burns, Tyrrell Hatton, Cameron Young and Shane Lowry.

FanDuel dark horse pick winners this year have included Max Homa in the Farmers Insurance Open, Adam Svensson in the RSM Classic and Matt Fitzpatrick in the RBC Heritage.

Top finishing position betting is a better way to increase your odds of a winning payoff, so there are plenty of opportunities to cash in on other players behind the leading favorites. Top-10 or top-20 payoffs have included dark horse Jason Day at The Players Championship, Xander Schauffele at The Masters, Patrick Rodgers (3/1 for top 10) in Mexico, Tommy Fleetwood (5/1 for top 5) at the Wells Fargo Championship and Seamus Power top-20 at the AT&T Byron Nelson.

Beyond the favorites and top-ranked players with odds to win below 30/1, there are plenty of capable longshots and dark horses that could make a run at the leaderboard and come away with a higher finish or victory on Sunday. After all, did you see Kurt Kitayama win the Arnold Palmer Invitational at 220/1 odds or greater and Wyndham Clark win at 75/1 at the Wells Fargo Championship?

Check out the 2023 RBC Canadian Open preview along with top finishing position odds, tournament matchups and golf props on FanDuel Sportsbook.

1. Adam Svensson (+5500)

This is no bargain price on Canadian Adam Svensson, who cashed a big dark horse outright winner at 150/1 on these pages at the RSM Classic. Svensson is solid across the board in his strokes gained stats, ranking top-7 in SG: Total over his last 36 rounds on bentgrass, where his Putting ranks No. 12 and Approach ranks No. 16.

2. Ben Martin (+11000)

Ben Martin had three top-10 finishes this spring but has not performed well since mid-April. Still, the 35-year-old has won on Tour and has six top-5 finishes. Birdies and low scores are needed this week, and Martin ranks top-5 in Birdies or Better Gained over his last 36 rounds. He's not his best on bentgrass, but Martin is top-12 in SG: Ball Striking and Approach, plus his Putting is top-40 in this field over his last 36 rounds.

3. Aaron Cockerill (+30000)

Canadian Aaron Cockerill is a big long shot to win this week, but top finishing positions are still in play (Top-20: +650). He's a DP World Tour player that has finished T21 or better in his last five events. The 31-year-old Manitoban is very accurate off the tee and hits a high percentage of greens. His putts per GIR and scoring average are among the best on the DP World Tour.
