Belmont Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 5/27/23

Updated:

The Belmont Spring/Summer Meet continues on Saturday with 10 races including a Grade 3. Post time is 1:00 p.m. ET from Belmont Park. Get in the game with mobile betting on FanDuel Sportsbook.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, check the weather and keep an eye on the track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Belmont Park Betting Picks

Check out the biggest stakes races ahead at Belmont Park, including the June 10 Belmont Stakes.

According to numberFire horse racing projections and Guaranteed Tip Sheet, these are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing today. The best value option will not necessarily be the top pick(s).

FanDuel Racing's May 19 picks at Pimlico went 3-for-3 and produced an 11/1 winner on Taxed in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes that also paid $190 on a $2 exacta bet. The May 26 picks at Belmont produced two top play winners, but both as favorites.

1. Utilization Rate and Doral, Race 5

FanDuel Racing Odds: 2/1 and 7/2

Race 5 is a Maiden Special Weight for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on the inner turf. The numberFire algorithm and GTS land on Gifted (7/5) as the winner with Utilization Rate (2/1) and Doral (7/2) as capable contenders. Utilization Rate has top connections of jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. and trainer Chad Brown. She was a short price last month but couldn't hold the lead as the favorite and finished runner-up.

Gifted, whose sire is Tapit, has finished runner-up in three straight races since March and earned a top 97 speed figure. But she'll likely scratch since she's entered to run only if the race is moved to dirt.

2. Love Appeals and Queen Picasso, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 6/5 and 5/1

Race 7 is the $175,000 Grade 3 Soaring Softly Stakes for 3-year-old fillies going 7 furlongs on the turf. The numberFire data picks the favorite Love Appeals (6/5) to win ahead of American Apple (4/1). Guaranteed Tip Sheet also has Love Appeals as a top win contender, along with Lady Beth (7/2) with top jockey Flavien Prat riding for leading trainer Chad Brown.

Love Appeals is the horse to beat off her dominant allowance score last month when she earned a top speed figure (95). She's well-suited for the distance and jockey change to strong stretch rider Joel Rosario is a plus as she tries for her third win in four starts.

Queen Picasso (5/1) has the meets top jockey Jose Ortiz, who has finished in-the-money at a meet-best 59% rate. Ortiz rides Queen instead of Lady Beth, who he was aboard in Feb. for her only start and win going slightly longer. Queen Picasso faces winners for the first time having won her only start in March to break her maiden going longer and pressing the pace. That was also against a number of horses that have come back to improve their speed figures, including the pace-setting runner-up.

3. Inflated Adjusted and Mo Z, Race 9

FanDuel Racing Odds: 2/1 and 7/2

Race 9 is an Allowance race going a route of 1 3/8 miles on the inner turf course. Guaranteed Tip Sheet makes Inflated Adjusted (2/1) a best bet with Irad Ortiz, Jr. riding for EPO trainer Mike Maker. The numberFire data has him finishing in-the-money with Danzigwiththestars (5/2) a top win contender, but he hasn't raced in six months and now goes long.

Mo Z (7/2) is lightly raced off a maiden win in Dec., but is capable with Joel Rosario taking over to ride.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
