3 Best Prop Bets for Stars vs Golden Knights NHL Playoffs Game 5 on May 27 (Joe Pavelski Leads by Example)

Updated:

Saturday's slate of NHL postseason games includes a Game 5 showdown between the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars. FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NHL odds list the Golden Knights as the -152 moneyline favorite at home with the projected total set at 5.5 goals.

Here are three of the best NHL player prop bets for the Stars-Golden Knights game, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.

Ty Dellandrea

Record 2+ shots on goal

Alex Pietrangelo

Record 1+ assists

Here's a breakdown of why I like each bet.

1. Joe Pavelski — Any Time Goal Scorer (+240)

Momentum is on Joe Pavelski's side after playing the Game 4 overtime hero for the Stars, forcing tonight's meeting with his ninth postseason goal. Dallas needs the veteran player to step up again to keep its playoff hopes alive and the best way to do that is if Pavelski continues his goal-scoring ways. The good news for the Stars is that the 38-year-old has already scored in back-to-back games three times during the playoffs and 14 times since the start of the regular season. With his club's Stanley Cup dreams on the line tonight, look for Pavelski to step up at least one more time.

2. Ty Dellandrea — 2+ Shots on Goal (-138)

While captain Jamie Benn's suspension hurts the Stars as a team, it's benefited Ty Dellandrea. The 22-year-old forward has played at least 15 minutes over the last two games, which is his most since Game 3 of the opening round. The elevated playing time helped him make good on this prop in back-to-back outings — a trend I see continuing tonight. Dellandrea has played 15-plus minutes five times in the playoffs, averaging 2.2 shots in those contests, finishing with multiple shots four times. With his being on the Stars' second line, those opportunities should continue coming.

3. Alex Pietrangelo — 1+ Assists (+108)

Alex Pietrangelo has been a source of consistency for the Golden Knights in the playoffs. The former 2008 first-rounder leads all Vegas defensemen in both assists (8) and points (9) through 14 games. I expect his playmaking success to continue tonight at T-Mobile Arena, where he has five assists in his last six home games. Considering that he finished with at least one helper in four of those outings, there's no reason to believe that Pietrangelo can't do it again.
