NHL Winter Classic Matchup
This year's Winter Classic will be a matchup between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Boston Bruins. The Bruins are currently in first place in the Eastern Conference with 59 points. The Penguins, on the other hand, are in fourth place in the Metropolitan Division with 44 points.
The Bruins are tied for the most Winter Classic wins of any team, with two, though they also lost to the Montreal Canadiens ant Gillette Stadium in 2016.
The Penguins won the inaugural Winter Classic in 2008 at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, but they hold a 1-1 record, having most recently lost to the Washington Capitals at Heinz Field way back in 2011.
Where is the NHL Winter Classic?
The NHL Winter Classic 2023 will be held outside at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts. Fenway Park's normal capacity is 37,731, but that number will be most likely modified for the Winter Classic.
This marks the second time since its 2008 debut that the Winter Classic was held at Fenway. That first occasion, in 2010, saw the Bruins win an overtime thriller over the Flyers in front of a crowd of 38,112.
The Bruins will break a tie with the Chicago Blackhawks in this game with their record-setting fifth Winter Classic appearance.

The 2023 NHL Winter Classic will take place on Monday, January 2, 2023. The inaugural Winter Classic was held at Ralph Wilson Stadium on January 1, 2008. It featured a game between the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins.
