Week 9 Sunday Night Football Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Titans vs Chiefs

Week 9 of the 2022 NFL season features an exciting AFC showdown between the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds list the Chiefs as 12.5-point home favorites over the Titans in a game filled with talented playmakers.

If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's our start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 9 Sunday Night Football matchup.

Robert Woods Fantasy

Start Robert Woods, WR, Tennessee Titans: Running back Derrick Henry is a must-start player week in and week out, but one other Titan sticks out as a potential FLEX option on Sunday night. That would be veteran wide receiver Robert Woods. Woods leads Tennessee with 256 yards on 22 receptions this season (1 touchdown). While that is not much to admire, he now gets to face a Chiefs' defense that is giving up the third-most PPR fantasy points to the WR position. Kansas City has also allowed an opposing WR to reach the end zone 10 times in 2022 (No. 30 in NFL). The Titans may have to lean on their passing attack to keep up with the Chiefs, so look for Woods to get peppered with targets.

JuJu Smith-Schuster Fantasy

Start JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs aren't the only ones that struggle to keep opposing wide receivers from balling out. The Titans are giving up the sixth-most PPR fantasy point to the WR position as well as 11.6 yards per completion in away games (T-No. 25 in NFL). That bodes well for JuJu Smith-Schuster, who has logged an impressive 237 yards and 2 touchdowns on 12 receptions over the last two weeks. With Kansas City posting a passing play percentage of 62.5% this year (No. 10 in NFL), there's no reason to think head coach Andy Reid takes his foot off the pedal in this one. Expect Smith-Schuster to keep his momentum going in Week 9.

Ryan Tannehill Fantasy

Sit Ryan Tannehill, QB, Tennessee Titans: There's a chance veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill is able to give it a go on Sunday night after missing Tennessee's Week 8 game due to injury/illness. Fantasy managers may be tempted to give him a chance as a streaming option in a positive matchup. However, the 34-year-old has shown little reason to be trusted. Tannehill is averaging only 182.8 passing yards per game on a 65.1% completion percentage. Those are his lowest marks across four seasons in Tennessee. He has thrown for 200 yards and 2 touchowns in only one game this season, which came all the way back in Week 1. Keep Tannehill benched for the time being.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Fantasy

Sit Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, Kansas City Chiefs: Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is being relied on less and less as this is season rolls on. In Week 8, the former LSU standout appeared in a season-low 27% of the offensive snaps and racked up only 32 yards on 6 touches. A short-yardage touchdown saved him from a horrible fantasy performance. Meanwhile, rookie Isaiah Pacheco played in a season-high 30% of the offensive snaps and tallied 43 yards on 8 touches. Not only is Edwards-Helaire in danger of losing his starting gig on Sunday night, but he also faces a Tennessee defense that is allowing the 10th-fewest PPR fantasy points to opposing RBs. The risk of a dud performance is too high to justify starting CEH.
