Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups 2022: Fantasy Football Players You Need to Add

Week 5 of the NFL season featured a few notable injuries and performances across fantasy football. Heading into Week 6, there's handful of widely available players that should now be on managers' radars, especially with the first bye weeks of the year finally upon us.

1. Kenneth Walker III (45% Rostered)

Kenneth Walker III should be the priority add for any manager if he's still on their waiver wire. Starting running back Rashaad Penny is now out of the season, clearing the way for Walker to handle an increased workload going forward. He saw an immediate uptick in playing time with Penny going down this past Sunday, posting a season high in snap percentage (58%). He immediately produced, turning eight carries into 88 yards and a touchdown. Penny averaged 13.6 opportunities (12.3 rushes plus 1.3 targets) per game over the first four contests, and Walker is the obvious candidate to inherit most of that load. The rookie RB is an immediate starting option based on the volume he'll see.

2. Taysom Hill (30% Rostered)

Taysom Hill is back to making plays for the Saints. He put up a ridiculous stat line in Week 5, popping off for 34.1 PPR points thanks to four combined touchdowns (three rushing, one passing). Hill is one of New Orleans' top offensive weapons right now with this banged-up receiving corps and Andy Dalton failing to impress while filling in for the injured Jameis Winston. Hill has already found the end zone in three of four games so far, making him one of the best tight end options out there, even if his production comes from untraditional places.

3. Rondale Moore (18% Rostered)

Rondale Moore came through for managers who held on to him in Week 5. Moore saw a healthy 8 targets on Sunday, which he converted into 7 receptions and 68 yards, both of which placed second behind only Marquise Brown. It appears the second-year pro has a firm grasp on the slot role for Arizona, which is a very attractive position to be in considering Christian Kirk's WR26 finish last year. Now fully healthy, Moore should continue to be a featured part of the Cardinals offense, and he'll benefit from the likes of Brown, Zach Ertz and DeAndre Hopkins (back from suspension in Week 7) drawing most of opposing defenses' attention. He's a great depth and bye week fill-in option at the very least.

4. Eno Benjamin (11% Rostered)

Speaking of Arizona, starting running back James Conner was knocked out of Sunday's game with a rib injury and didn't play at all in the second half. Fellow RB Darrel Williams also left with a knee issue, leading Eno Benjamin to a starring role. Benjamin came through for this shorthanded backfield, turning 11 total touches into 53 yards from scrimmage. He showed off his burst with an 11-yard score in the fourth quarter that helped him finish with a season-best 14.3 PPR points, not far off from Conner's 2022 high of 16.5. Benjamin already had value as a handcuff, but his production shows he'd be a plug-and-play option if Conner is ruled out for Week 6.

5. Joshua Kelley (1% Rostered)

Austin Ekeler's status as one of fantasy's top RBs means his handcuffs are almost just as valuable, and it appears Joshua Kelley may finally be the frontrunner for that role. He was rewarded with a season-high 38% snap share in Week 5, and he made his case for more playing time after setting 2022 bests in carries (10), rushing yards (49) and receiving yards (33). He also found the end zone, helping him post a 16.2-point PPR day. Ekeler is the clear RB1 in this offense, but it's clear the Chargers want to lessen his load, and that should mean more opportunities for Kelley after he proved he can make plays when on the field. Though he's only a dart-throw starting option right now, he has league-winning upside if Ekeler goes down at any point.
