Week 5 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Steelers vs Bills

Week 5 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Steelers vs Bills

Updated:

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak when the visit the Buffalo Bills in Week 5 NFL action. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds list the Bills as 14-point home favorites in a game that is full of playmakers on both sides of the football.

If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's our start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 5 AFC showdown.

Najee Harris Fantasy

Start Najee Harris, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers head into this game as big underdogs and their only chance of keeping this one close is likely with the ground game. Controlling the clock and keeping the ball away from the Bills' powerful offense is the key, especially with a rookie quarterback set to make his first NFL start. That gives running back Najee Harris a ton of upside this week. It's not unrealistic to project 20-plus carries for the second-year pro. That happened eight times last season and he posted at least 71 yards or scored a touchdown in each of those eight games. Buffalo's defense is stellar, but it has already allowed 4 rushing touchdowns to opposing RBs. Don't bench Harris.

Devin Singletary Fantasy

Start Devin Singletary, RB, Buffalo Bills: If the Bills get out to an early lead in this one as expected, running back Devin Singletary will see more than enough touches to justify a start in fantasy football. The former FAU standout has scored double-digit PPR fantasy points in back-to-back weeks and played in a season-high 88% of the offensive snaps in Week 5. It's clear that Zach Moss and James Cook are taking a back seat on offense at the moment. This is Singletary's backfield and he gets to face a Pittsburgh defense that is allowing the eighth-most PPR fantasy points to opposing RBs. Don't hesitate to slide Singletary into a FLEX or RB2 spot on Sunday.

Kenny Pickett Fantasy

Sit Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers: Yes, it is Kenny Pickett time in Pittsburgh and there's a lot to like about the rookie's chances of leading the Steelers to some wins this season. That does not mean he is an immediate starter in fantasy football, though. Pickett draws the toughest matchup he could possibly ask for in Week 5. Buffalo has posted the best pass defense DVOA rating in the NFL and is allowing the fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs. The Bills have also logged 7 interceptions and given up just 3 passing touchdowns. Pickett should stay stashed on your bench until more advantageous matchups come his way.

Dawson Knox Fantasy

Sit Dawson Knox, TE, Buffalo Bills: The Bills may own the the seventh-highest passing play percentage in the NFL (64.7%), but that isn't helping tight end Dawson Knox much from a fantasy football perspective. The 25-year-old has posted 7 or less PPR fantasy points in each game this season and has only seen 2 targets in the red zone. That is concerning after he scored 9 touchdowns last season on 21 targets in the red zone. It's even more concerning when taking into account the Steelers have only allowed 1 touchdown to an opposing TE in 2022. Knox's current lack of TD upside caps his ceiling and makes opting for a streaming option at the position a smart strategy here.
