Week 5 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Eagles vs Cardinals

Updated:
The Philadelphia Eagles will aim to remain the only unbeaten team in the NFL when they visit the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5 NFL action. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds list the Eagles as 5.5-point road favorites in a game that will surely have an impact in fantasy football matchups.
If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's our start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 5 NFC showdown.
Dallas Goedert Fantasy
Start Dallas Goedert, TE, Philadelphia Eagles: Tight end Dallas Goedert has posted at least 9.0 PPR fantasy points in every game this season and draws the perfect matchup to extend that streak to five games. Arizona has allowed the second-most receptions (28) and the second-most yards (341) to opposing TEs this season. Travis Kelce, Darren Waller and Tyler Higbee have all posted double-digit PPR fantasy points against this defense in 2022 . Goedert has taken a front row seat on one of the league's best offenses and is averaging a career-high 60.0 yards per game. That is more than enough of a reason to start him every single week.
Zach Ertz Fantasy
Start Zach Ertz, TE, Arizona Cardinals: Quarterback Kyler Murray has a clear favorite target this season and that is tight end Zach Ertz. Ertz has scored a touchdown or logged at least 6 receptions in every game so far, which has led to four top-12 TE weekly finishes. That is no easy feat to accomplish, especially at the TE position. Philadelphia has yet to face a tight end that has the receiving abilities that Ertz possesses, which means their linebacker core has yet to be truly tested. It's worth noting that this is the first time Ertz is facing his former team, too. An underlying motivation should lead to a big day here.
DeVonta Smith Fantasy
Sit DeVonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles: While Goedert is seeing his role in the passing attack become more and more prominent, wide receiver DeVonta Smith is becoming a hit-or-miss option for quarterback Jalen Hurts. In Weeks 1 & 4, Smith logged just 17 yards on 3 receptions. In Weeks 2 & 3, Smith tallied 249 yards and 1 touchdown on 15 receptions. It is something that will frustrate fantasy managers for the rest of the season. Keep in mind Arizona has given up the fifth-fewest yards to opposing WRs (542) as well as only 2 receiving touchdowns. Smith is a risky FLEX play at best on Sunday.
James Conner Fantasy
Sit James Conner, RB, Arizona Cardinals: It's surprising to see running back James Conner struggle to burst through the holes and rack up gains on the ground this season. The former Pittsburgh standout has logged just 145 rushing yards through four games and his fantasy production is being saved by his role in the passing attack. That is not a good thing when considering the Eagles have allowed only 114 receiving yards on 20 receptions (5.7-yard average) to opposing RBs this season. Philadelphia has also only given up 4 total touchdowns to the position as well. Conner has to improve before fantasy managers can feel completely comfortable starting him.
