Week 4 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Jaguars vs Eagles

Updated:

Week 4 of the NFL season includes an intriguing showdown between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds show the Eagles as 6.5-point favorites in this inter-conference matchup.

If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's our start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 4 showdown between the Jaguars and Eagles.

Christian Kirk Fantasy

Start Christian Kirk, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jaguars may have paid a hefty price to sign Christian Kirk in free agency, but he's lived up to every penny so far. Kirk has averaged 20.9 PPR points through the first three weeks, entering the upcoming matchup as the WR6. The Eagles may have one of the best defenses in the league, but the unit is average when it comes to fantasy points allowed to wideouts. Throw in Philadelphia being tied for the 12th-most receptions allowed to the position (42) and the likelihood of the Jaguars playing from behind, there's a good chance that Kirk will keep up his already-impressive production on Sunday.

DeVonta Smith Fantasy

Start DeVonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles: Since laying a goose egg in Week 1, DeVonta Smith has been the WR7 in PPR over the last two weeks. The Eagles wideout has a ton of momentum on his side after hauling in eight catches for 169 receiving yards and a touchdown. Even though he still has to compete with A.J. Brown for targets, Smith should be just fine after Jalen Hurts targeted the duo 10-plus times apiece in Week 3. The Jaguars are giving up the 12th-most points to wide receivers this season and have allowed the position to find the end zone five times. Don't be surprised if both Smith and Brown have WR1/2 performances this weekend.

Trevor Lawrence Fantasy

Sit Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars: Doug Pederson's presence in Jacksonville has helped Trevor Lawrence take his game to the next level. While the sophomore signal-caller might be the QB10 in fantasy, facing the Eagles is no easy task. Philadelphia has held quarterbacks to only 12.3 fantasy points per game (seventh-fewest), allowing just three TD passes while picking off the ball four times. While I do believe Lawrence has long-term value over the course of the season, this is one of the matchups you should pivot away from if possible, especially with the Jags on the road.

Kenneth Gainwell Fantasy

Sit Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Philadelphia Eagles: After scoring a touchdown in Week 1, it looked like the Eagles were going to incorporate Kenneth Gainwell into their offense more often. Instead, the sophomore rusher has only seen six opportunities (five carries, one catch) over the last two weeks for a whopping... 24 total yards. It's clear that Philadelphia's backfield attack runs through Miles Sanders and Jalen Hurts, who have combined for 79.6% of carries so far. Maybe Gainwell will get some opportunities in garbage time if the Eagles are ahead by a lot, however, that's a risky fantasy strategy when you could find more reliable options elsewhere.
