Week 2 Sunday Night Football Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Bears vs Packers

Week 2 Sunday Night Football Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Bears vs Packers

Updated:

A pair of NFC North foes meet head-to-head in Week 2 as the Chicago Bears visit the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds list the Packers as 9.5-point home favorites in a game that is full of stars on both sides of the football.

If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's our start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 2 divisional showdown.

Darnell Mooney Fantasy

Start Darnell Mooney, WR, Chicago Bears: Fantasy managers have a right to worry after wide receiver Darnell Mooney posted just 8 yards on 1 reception and 3 targets in Week 1. It's important to note that unfavorable weather conditions and a second-half lead caused the Bears to lean heavily on the run game instead of the pass. Mooney has a perfect opportunity to bounce back in Week 2 under more favorable circumstances. The Packers allowed the fourth-most PPR fantasy points to opposing WRs in Week 1 and could not contain the likes of Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen. Mooney logged 45 yards and 1 touchdown on 5 receptions against Green Bay in Week 6 last season, so expect a similar performance here.

AJ Dillon Fantasy

Start AJ Dillon, RB, Green Bay Packers: It sure looked like Green Bay's coaching staff favored AJ Dillon over Aaron Jones in Week 1. Dillon saw more carries, more targets and more red zone touches than Jones did despite playing in six fewer snaps. It resulted in a 20.1-point PPR fantasy outing, which ranked ninth among all RBs. Dillon has averaged 4.9 yards per attempt across three career games against Chicago and enters this contest with a game script that benefits him more than anyone else. The Packers are expected to be up early in this one, meaning they can lean on Dillon to grind out first downs and drain the clock. Dillon has RB2 written all over him this week.

Cole Kmet Fantasy

Sit Cole Kmet, TE, Chicago Bears: It was a Week 1 to forget for tight end Cole Kmet. On the bright side, he played in 83% of Chicago's offensive snaps. On the other hand, he didn't register a single target in the passing attack. Kmet was a popular breakout pick among fantasy managers this past offseason as quarterback Justin Fields looks to take another step in his development under center. That may still end up being the case, but not in Week 2. Green Bay gave up just 19 yards on 4 receptions to opposing TEs in Week 1 and allowed under 10 yards per reception to the position in 2021. Kmet should stay on the bench for now.

Allen Lazard Fantasy

Sit Allen Lazard, WR, Green Bay Packers: The health of wide receiver Allen Lazard is one of the biggest storylines heading into this Sunday night contest. He finally returned to practice on Wednesday as he continues to work through an ankle injury. While that is good news, his status against the Bears remains up in the air. Seeing him get ruled active wouldn't automatically mean he will see as many snaps as he usually does and seeing him get ruled out shortly before kickoff would leave fantasy managers in a tough spot to replace him, so it's better to avoid that situation entirely.
