Week 2 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Commanders vs Lions

Week 2 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Commanders vs Lions

Week 2 of the 2022 NFL season includes an intriguing NFC showdown between the Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds have the Lions tabbed as 1.5-point home favorites in this meeting.

If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's our start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 2 showdown.

Antonio Gibson Fantasy

Start Antonio Gibson, RB, Washington Commanders: Antonio Gibson erased all doubts that anyone may have had with an impressive Week 1 performance. The veteran running back racked up 130 total yards from scrimmage on 21 touches (14 carries, 7 catches) en route to an RB10-finish in PPR formats. Fortunately for Gibson, the Lions showed that they're susceptible to the run, giving up 214 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. Add in the fact that Gibson was on the field for 64% of offensive snaps and it isn't tough to imagine him having another top-10 finish this week.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Fantasy

Start Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, Detroit Lions: There was a lot of hype around second-year wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown this offseason. Fortunately, the 22-year-old lived up to the hype in Week 1, finishing with a solid 20.4 points (WR11 in PPR). St. Brown also had a team-high 12 targets (32.4% target share), which is a trend that could become the norm since he's Detroit's clear-cut top wideout. Things look even more promising when you take into account that the Commanders allowed Christian Kirk to torch them for 117 yards on six catches last week.

J.D. McKissic Fantasy

Sit J.D. McKissic, RB, Washington Commanders: Before the season began, J.D. McKissic had FLEX appeal in PPR formats due to his value in Washington's passing game. That might no longer be the case, however. The Commanders have incorporated Gibson more as a pass-catcher, as evidenced by his eight targets on Sunday compared to McKissic's three. It also doesn't help that Gibson averaged 3.6 more yards on his receptions than his counterpart. McKissic's 40% of offensive snaps played is noticeably worse than the 59% and 45% he averaged in his first two seasons with Washington, too. Even as a FLEX option, it's too hard to trust McKissic until his role is more defined.

Josh Reynolds Fantasy

Sit Josh Reynolds, WR, Detroit Lions: Josh Reynolds is a player that the Lions wanted to see step up in 2022. However, he was largely invisible in Week 1. The former Texas A&M product only caught one of his three targets for 28 yards despite being on the field for 80% of offensive snaps. Evidently, he doesn't seem to have much of a connection with quarterback Jared Goff. Until Reynolds proves that he can consistently produce with his playing time, I'd steer clear of him.
