Week 16 Weather Could Have Major Impact on Bills-Bears Game

Updated:

The Buffalo Bills can't seem to catch a break when it comes to bad weather threatening their games. Their last two games, both at home, have been threatened by a chance of awful snowy conditions. And while Week 15's forecast ended up getting blown out of proportion (in terms of affecting the playing surface), the Bills find themselves in a similar spot in Week 16.

And they aren't even playing at home in Week 16.

Buffalo visits the Chicago Bears for an intense Week 16 matchup, but an early weather forecast is threatening to play a major impact on the conditions of this Christmas Eve affair.

Local Buffalo-area meteorologist Patrick Hammer tweeted a picture of the snow forecast projected for Chicago this weekend. He indicated Chicago could "potentially shut down" on Friday because of blizzard-like conditions.

The NFL does a bang-up job of cleaning up playing surfaces before games. As long as the weather isn't actively snowing in "blizzard-like" conditions, the league and stadium officials are usually able to clear the field for a playable surface. Hammer's main concern surrounds Bills fans wishing to attend the game.

Chicago is about an 8-hour drive from Buffalo and the Bills mafia is one of the best traveling fanbases throughout the league. The threat of this forcast throws a wrench in the plans of Bills fans planning on making the trip.

Bears fans can take solace in the fact that the contingent of Bills Mafia may be a little smaller and quieter than most weeks. For now, the Bills are favored by 8 points, per NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
