Week 16 Thursday Night Football Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Jaguars vs Jets (Play This Elite TE Option)

Updated:

Week 16 of the 2022 NFL season kicks off with an intriguing AFC matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. Both teams have surpassed expectations this year and are still in the playoff hunt with the end of the regular season rapidly approaching.

If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's our start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 16 Thursday Night Football matchup.

Evan Engram Fantasy

Start Evan Engram, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars: The former Pro Bowler has been a key part of the Jaguars' playoff push with his stellar play in recent weeks. Engram's been up and down this year, but he's trending in the right direction with 24 catches on 32 targets for 254 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns over his last three games. He's coming off back-to-back games with double-digit targets and has suddenly emerged as one of Trevor Lawrence's favorite weapons, making him a top option at a thin fantasy position. Fire him up against the Jets on TNF.

Greg Zuerlein Fantasy

Start Greg Zuerlein, K, New York Jets: Zuerlein has been solid in his first year with the Jets, drilling 25 of his 30 field goal attempts and all but one of his 29 extra points. The former Pro Bowler recently had a game with 5 field goal makes earlier this month and should be busy again at home versus the Jaguars. Jacksonville is giving up the 12th-most points per game and sixth-most yards per game, so Zuerlein should get plenty of chances to score some points.

Christian Kirk Fantasy

Sit Christian Kirk, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars: Kirk has been a strong fantasy option for much of the year but has been concerningly boom-or-bust lately, finishing with fewer than 50 receiving yards in two of his last four games. He also doesn't have a touchdown during that span as he's become overshadowed in the red zone by Engram and Zay Jones. Going up against a Jets defense that's allowing the fourth-fewest passing yards and second-fewest passing TDS per game, Kirk's fantasy floor and ceiling are both considerably lower than usual, especially on a short week. Keep him on the bench if you have a higher-upside option available, as Kirk isn't going to win anyone their matchups this week.

Zach Wilson Fantasy

Sit Zach Wilson, QB, New York Jets: Fantasy managers may be tempted to roll with Wilson after he lit up the Detroit Lions for 317 passing yards last week, but his larger body of work suggests that's not a good idea. Wilson has been largely underwhelming this year, falling short of 160 passing yards in four of his last six games and posting a 6:6 TD/INT ratio in eight games overall. The second-year pro has yet to string together back-to-back good performances this season, making him too risky to trust in a pivotal primetime game.
