Week 15 Waiver Wire Pickups 2022: Fantasy Football Players You Need to Add for Playoffs (Love the Lions' Offense)

After 14 weeks of blood, sweat and tears, the fantasy football playoffs are officially here! Teams still alive in the fantasy playoffs are likely less reliant on hammering the waiver wire, but you never know with an untimely injury or poor matchup. If you do need to head to the waiver, there are a few players that can help you advance into the next round of the playoffs.

Fantasy Football Playoffs Advice

Here are the top waiver wire pickups heading into Week 15 of the 2022 season and the official start to the fantasy football playoffs.

Week 15 Waiver Wire Pickups

Note: Only players rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo! fantasy football leagues are eligible for this list.

1. D.J. Chark, WR, Detroit Lions (40% Rostered)

The Detroit Lions offense has averaged 32.2 points per game over the last five weeks of the season, and I want in on that action. Look no further than wideout D.J. Chark, who has been on a tear since Week 12 after a lengthy absence from injury. He's averaged 6 targets per game and is hauling in nearly 4.5 receptions and 69.3 yards in that span. That stretch equates to a WR15 ranking, something very valuable to have handy heading into the playoffs. He ranks behind only Amon-Ra St. Brown in targets for the past two weeks and that trend continues, even against a tough Jets' defense. Luckily, Sauce Gardner's attention will be all over St. Brown and Chark will take advantage.

2. Chuba Hubbard, RB, Carolina Panthers (33% Rostered)

The Carolina Panthers remain a very run-heavy team, ranking ninth in run percentage across the NFL. That means a plethora of opportunities for Carolina's backs, even Chuba Hubbard. Hubbard still operates as a 1B option to D'Onta Foreman in terms of rushing share (33% compared to Foreman's 48%), but averages 15.5 carries per game dating back two weeks. Considering he's the main receiving option out of the backfield and has done much more with his opportunity (4.5 yards per carry), he's a sneaky FLEX play in Week 15.

3. Chigoziem Okonkwo, TE, Tennessee Titans (14% Rostered)

It's hard to ignore what Chigoziem Okonkwo has done over the past couple of weeks. He's operated as TE3 over the past three weeks and is taking advantage of a Titans' roster that seriously lacks playmakers behind Derrick Henry. Okonkwo is averaging 5.4 targets, 4.3 receptions and 49.3 yards per game in this stretch. While the Chargers' defense is average at best (13th-most fantasy points to opposing QBs), Chig is also a serious TE candidate down the stretch. Scoop him up now and he may start every game of your fantasy playoff run.

4. Elijah Moore, WR, New York Jets (27% Rostered)

Elijah Moore has been on a great fantasy run since Mike White took over at QB for the Jets in Week 12. In the past two weeks, Moore is averaging 8 targets per game and hauling in 4 receptions for 33.5 yards. He's also notched 1 TD on a 10-yard scamper to the end zone. Those numbers (WR39) don't blow me away, but the Jets could be in for a high-flying shootout against a porous Lions defense in Week 15. With Corey Davis' status very much up in the air, Moore has a great opportunity to erupt in Week 15.

5. Ben Skowronek, WR, Los Angeles Rams (3% Rostered)

Cooper Kupp's absence left the LA Rams' offense with a devastating hole at wideout. Ben Skowronek is trying to fill those needs. He actually ranks second amongst LA's wide receivers in targets (58), behind only Kupp. Skowronek had a terrific performance in Week 14 after catching 7-of-8 targets for 89 yards. He's worth a look in deeper leagues, especially after showing some chemistry with Baker Mayfield under center. Against a Packers' secondary that ranks middle of the pack (15th), Skowronek is worth flier in deeper fantasy leagues.
