Week 14 Monday Night Football Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Patriots vs Cardinals

Updated:

Week 14 of the 2022 NFL season concludes with an exciting cross-conference showdown between the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football. Each team will be aiming to make up ground in the Wild Card race as the NFL Playoffs draw closer.

If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's our start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 14 Monday Night Football matchup.

Mac Jones Fantasy

Start Mac Jones, QB, New England Patriots: Mac Jones has not been the most reliable fantasy football quarterback this season, but he draws a great matchup for a breakout performance. The Cardinals are allowing the third-most fantasy points to opposing QBs this season as well as 245.4 passing yards per game (No. 25 in NFL). The last time Jones faced a subpar passing defense, he lit up the Minnesota Vikings for 382 yards and 2 touchdowns. That outing allowed him to finish as the No. 7 fantasy QB in Week 12. A top-12 QB finish is not out of the question this week, especially since the Cardinals allow a league-worst 29.0 points per home game. Jones has a chance to ball out.

Kyler Murray Fantasy

Start Kyler Murray, QB, Arizona Cardinals: Jones isn't the only quarterback with an advantageous matchup on Monday night. While the Patriots have been stellar against the pass this season, they have struggled to stop QBs on the ground. New England has allowed the ninth-most rushing yards to opposing QBs and that obviously bodes well for Kyler Murray. Murray is averaging a career-best 6.3 yards per carry on the year and scored his third rushing touchdown of the season in Week 12. The 24-year-old has also tossed 7 touchdowns over his last three games, giving him a high ceiling if he can figure out the New England secondary. The upside greatly outweighs the downside when it comes to starting Murray.

DeVante Parker Fantasy

Sit DeVante Parker, WR, New England Patriots: New England will be without wide receiver Jakobi Meyers tonight and that may cause some fantasy managers to shift gears to someone like DeVante Parker. He's simply not a great option, though. Parker has the size and talent to take over the No. 1 WR spot, but odds are it is Nelson Agholor that actually does. Agholor has as many catches (10) as Parker does targets over the past three weeks combined and also scored a touchdown in Week 12. Parker hasn't found the end zone since Week 4, which was his only TD of the season so far. The Cardinals have also allowed the fifth-fewest yards to opposing wide receivers (1,714) on the 13th-fewest receptions (153). Parker is merely a desperation FLEX option.

Greg Dortch Fantasy

Sit Greg Dortch, WR, Arizona Cardinals: Fantasy managers likely picked up wide receiver Greg Dortch as bench depth after he logged 103 yards on 9 receptions (10 targets) in Week 11. It's a smart move, but plugging him into the starting lineup would not be. That performance was Dortch's first time racking up more than 3.2 PPR fantasy points since Week 3. He remains Murray's No. 3 target and now has to face a New England defense that is allowing the eighth-fewest PPR fantasy points to opposing WRs. The Patriots have also given up the fourth-fewest touchdowns to the position (8). Dortch's floor is far too low to warrant a start.
