A common betting term for unexpected spread losses is "bad beats," but this term can also simply apply to the worst possible ways for a team to lose a game. If you made a list, the way the Michigan Wolverines lost this one would be near the top of it.

Michigan's Muffed Punt Turned Michigan State Game-Winning TD

All they had to do was punt the ball downfield to avoid a game-winning punt return touchdown, right? Wrong! The punter also had to catch the snap without fumbling the ball straight into the hands of the Michigan State Spartans defense.

Unfortunately for Michigan, the punter was unable to do so, and fate took over from there. The ball pops free straight into the hands of a Spartan defender and he's off to the races. He actually almost comes up short of the end zone, by why ruin a historic moment with an open-field tackle?

Instead, the Spartans score, the Spartans win, and ever Wolverines fan watches in utter disbelief. The freeze-framed faces say it all. Moments like this seem tough to rationalize.
