VIDEO: Remembering Antonio Cromartie's NFL Record 109-Yard Field Goal Return for a TD

Updated:

Before Cordarrelle Patterson's 109-yard kick return touchdown ever occurred, one other NFL athlete returned the ball 109 yards, except he did it off a missed field goal. That player was Antonio Cromartie, and that legendary return was with the San Diego Chargers in 2007.

Ironically, the Minnesota Vikings (who allowed Cromartie's legendary moment) were the same franchise Patterson played for during his own NFL-record-tying TD return six years later. This time the Vikes were on the losing side, however, as Cromartie makes them look silly.

Minnesota is completely asleep on this one as Ryan Longwell's 58-yard field goal try comes up just short of the uprights, and right into the waiting hands of Cromartie. After that, Antonio's speed takes care of the rest. He really only has to elude a couple of tacklers before following a wall of blockers down the sideline and into the end zone.

One can only imagine what Brad Childress must have said to his players moments later, as this return took both teams into halftime, but it probably was not a room you would want to be in. Shake it off men, that one will probably never happen again!
