VIDEO: Cubs Beer Snake Makes its Return With Wrigley Field Back at Full Capacity
What a weekend it was for the Chicago Cubs and their entire fanbase. Not only did the Cubs complete a three-game sweep over archrival St. Louis Cardinals and push themselves up 6.0 games in the NL Central standings. But, Chicago also saw a full crowd at Wrigley Field for the first time since September of 2019 after the COVID-19 capacity restrictions were finally lifted.
It was quite clear that Cubs fans were ecstatic enjoying the Cubs' 2-0 win on Sunday night. If you're looking for some evidence of this joyous occasion, look no further than the epic "beer snake" that went down in the Wrigley Field bleachers yesterday.
"Beer snakes" have been slowly taking over MLB stadiums this summer, especially with crowds beginning to approach or reach full capacity. Essentially, fans work together to stack their empty beer cups in a long, continuous line. At some point, the stack of empty beer cups can reach 10-20 feet or longer and yes, it sort of resembles a snake.
With all of the amazing news surround Wrigley Field and the Cubs performance this year, the beer snake at Sunday night's game was probably the most epic one we've seen across the MLB this season.
Currently, Chicago owns a 38-27 overall record and is squarely tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for first-place in the NL Central. The Cubs also own +250 odds to win the division, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. This would be the fourth divisional crown taken home by Chicago in the last six years.
