Update on Potential Quay Walker Suspension Emerges

Updated:

The end of the 2022 season was ugly for the Green Bay Packers. During their shocking home loss to the Detroit Lions that eliminated them from the playoffs, rookie linebacker Quay Walker was ejected for a bone-headed decision to push a member of Detroit's medical staff.

It was the type of action that immediately got him kicked out of the game and could result in further consequences. An update emerged regarding a possible suspension for the incident on Tuesday.

The league is still in the processing of reviewing Walker's actions in Week 18, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. However, the rookie is not expected to earn a suspension.

This is big news. Though the team is out of the postseason, a suspension could've impacted Walker's availability for the start of the 2023 campaign. Instead, it appears he may just be hit with a fine for his reckless decision.

Green Bay will need to work with Walker on managing his frustrations as he prepares for his second season in 2023. The first-round pick was ejected twice during his rookie year, and it's clear Matt LaFleur is taking the issue personally.

Hopefully the disruptive pass rusher is able to avoid these kinds of mistakes and stay on the field for the Packers moving forward. The 22-year-old will be expected to play a key part in a possible youth movement in Green Bay.
