Trade Rumors Link Packers to Stud Wide Receiver Ahead of Deadline

The NFL's trade deadline is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. ET. There is already plenty of buzz around rumors swirling left and right, including the Green Bay Packers, who face a pivotal point in their season stymied by underperforming wide receivers and defensive production.

One rumor has linked the Packers to a stud wide receiver.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, several GM's around the league "are certain" the Packers will add a wide receiver talent at the deadline. He indicates the Steelers' Chase Claypool as a name that "makes sense," but at a "hefty price."

Claypool's potential availability on the trade market dates back to the 2022 preseason, and even beyond. The third-year wideout broke out for 96 yards in Week 6, but continues to be overshadowed by other names on the roster (like Diontae Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster previously). The addition of rookie George Pickens only complicates Claypool's pecking order in the aerial attack.

Green Bay is in desperate need of receiver help for Aaron Rodgers. Only two Packers wideouts have eclipsed 250 receiving yards, but one (Allen Lazard) catches just 58.8% of the balls thrown his way. By comparison, Davante Adams reached 250+ receiving yards in Week 3 of the 2021 NFL season.

The Packers' window is closing with Rodgers at the helm, and his potential future up in the air. Adding a viable, experienced and young pass-catcher like Claypool may be just the thing this team needs to jump start the offense.
