Top Mets Prospect Nick Plummer Makes Epic Choice for Walk-Up Song

Updated:
The New York Mets called up outfielder Nick Plummer the major leagues on Friday after Mark Canha and Brandon Nimmo were placed on the COVID-19 list. Although he failed to grab a hit, the 25-year-old's first plate appearance had the crowd going crazy thanks to an epic walk-up song choice.

Plummer made his way to the plate as the Super Mario Bros. theme song blasted from the speakers at Citi Field. It's a smart choice given the video game is iconic no matter what age you are. Sure, the fact that the Mets were winning already had fans in a good mood. This gave them a good laugh, too.
The 2015 No. 23 overall pick lined out to center field to start off his career and will likely see more opportunities to play before Canha & Nimmo make their return. It's not a guarantee that he will keep his walk-up song the same, though, after asking fans on Twitter for suggestions following the game.
Plummer is the Mets' No. 8 prospect and spent time between Double-A and Triple-A during the 2021 season. Overall, he posted a slash line of .280/.415/.479 across 117 games played. Plummer also showcased his talent by tallying 71 runs scored, 15 home runs, 54 RBI and 13 stolen bases.
The Mets will look to create more space atop the National League East when they begin a four-game series against the San Francisco Giants on Monday. For now, New York has odds set at +150 to win the division and odds set at +1300 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
