Top 10 Fantasy Baseball First Basemen for 2023 MLB Season

Opening Day is rapidly approaching and that means it's time to start getting ready for your upcoming 2023 fantasy baseball drafts.

With that in mind, here are the top 10 fantasy baseball first basemen for the 2023 MLB season.

10. C.J. Cron, Colorado Rockies

Cron continued to enjoy his time at Coors Field in 2022, racking up a career-high 102 RBIs and earning his first All-Star selection. He also socked 29 home runs, topping 25 for the fourth year in a row (excluding 2020). Cron has quietly emerged as one of the most reliable sluggers in the game over the past few years and is an elite DFS option whenever the Rockies or at home or he's facing a left-handed pitcher. Expect another campaign with around 30 homers, 100 RBIs and a solid batting average for the 33-year-old masher.

6. Jose Abreu, Houston Astros

Abreu's power numbers fell off a cliff in 2022, resulting in the lowest home run total (15) and slugging percentage (.446) of his career. A move to Houston should help recapture some of that pop, as he'll now get to take aim at the Crawford Boxes in left field. He'll also have an absolutely stacked lineup around him, which should aid him in his quest for a seventh season with at least 100 RBIs. He's one of the few batters capable of hitting .300 anymore and still smacks a ton of doubles, making him a valuable fantasy bat even at age 36.

2. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays were a bit of a letdown in 2022, and Guerrero's drop-off was a big reason why. The 2021 AL MVP runner-up saw his OPS plunge nearly 200 points from 1.002 to .818 as his numbers declined across the board. Expect him and some of his teammates to bounce back in 2023, especially with the fences being moved in at the Rogers Centre. He's only going to be 24 this season, too, so there's still room to grow for the two-time All-Star. Look for him to at least split the difference between 2021 and 2022, finishing with around 40 homers, 100 RBIs, a .280-.290 average and perhaps even double-digit steals.
