Tommy Edman Makes Historic World Baseball Classic Announcement

The World Baseball Classic is making its return in 2023, beginning on Wednesday, March 8 and running all the way through to its conclusion on Tuesday, March 21.

Teams from around the world have been revealing thier rosters, with much of the USA team already known. One St. Louis Cardinal is making history at the 2023 Wrodl Baseball Classic. Tommy Edman announced on Friday that he would be playing for South Korea.

Edman will be the first player ever to represent the Soth Korean team to not be born in the country. Edman gains his eligibility to play for the national team based on his Korean heritage on his mother's side.

Edman enjoyed a really solid 2022 season, slashing .265/.324/.400 in 153 games for the Red Birds. He also played three different infield positions and some outfield, so he has a ton of versatility on the defensive side as well.

He will be a fantastic addition to the Korean team that will surely feature some other MLB talent.
