Sidy Sow Scouting Report
Sow was not a highly recruited player coming out of high school, but developed into a reliable starter in six seasons at Eastern Michigan. He redshirted for only one season before being thrust into a starting role at the left tackle position. Sow allowed a measly 3 sacks in 2018 and 0 sacks in 2019.
The Canadian's 2020 season was mired by COVID iusses as he only appeared in six games. Sow came back with a vengeance in 2021 as he allowed only 3 sacks and 2 hits across 13 games played. He finished up his lengthy college career by giving up just 2 sacks and 3 hits in 13 games in 2022.
Highlighted strengths of Sow's game centers on his experience, but also his explosiveness. He knows what it takes to knock defenders backward with quick hands and open up lanes in the rushing attack. Sow has also been praised for his fighter mentality as he is always looking for someone to take down.
Sow is not a prospect without flaws, though, as his aggressiveness can lead to him overextending his arms at times. He could also benefit from working on his footwork when trying to get to the second level of the defense. Nevertheless, Sow's size alone makes him an intriguing option at the NFL Draft.
Sidy Sow NFL Draft Prediction
Sow is not a player capable of starting Week 1 and holding his own against elite pass rushers in the NFL. However, he has the foundation to get to that point rather quickly with the right coaching staff. Adding Sow to a team known for developing O-line talent would go a long way in his improvement.
That makes the Ravens stick out as logical landing spot. Baltimore is a run-heavy squad, which means Sow would fit right in with his ability to create running lanes. Not only that, but current left guard starter Ben Cleveland lacks any kind of quality competition heading into the NFL Draft.
Sow has a vast amount of experience and could become a quick riser if he stands out in training camp. Of course, that would be more than expected of a lineman taken in the fifth round or later. This is a pick that would help the Ravens down the road as they look to stay competitive in the AFC North.
Prediction: Baltimore Ravens (Round 5, 157 overall)
