Ravens Latest Roster Moves Are Great Sign for Rashod Bateman Injury Status

Updated:

When the Baltimore Ravens traded Marquise Brown to the Arizona Cardinals it become clear that they thought they had another player with WR1 potential on the roster.

Unfortunately that player, second-year wideout Rashod Bateman, has struggled to stay healthy. Bateman missed a couple games after getting hurt against the Buffalo Bills in Week 4 and was questionable again after returning in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns.

Thankfully, it looks an awful lot like Bateman is going to suit up on Thursday Night Football against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Ravens signed veteran free agent DeSean Jackson last week, but the fact that he was assigned to the practice squad made it appear that he was more of a backup option in case Bateman wasn't healthy. With Jackson left on the practice squad on Thursday, it appears that Bateman is ready to suit up again.

Bateman was off to an amazing start to the season before getting hurt, tallying 226 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 8 receptions — averaging an absurd 28.3 yards per reception.

He hasn't been quite so explosive since then, with just 17 yards on 3 receptions in Week 4 and 42 on 4 receptions in Week 7, but as he continues to recover and shake off the rust Ravens fans should expect his effectiveness to increase drastically again.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds, Bateman and the Ravens are 1.5-point underdogs against the Bucs. The prop bet for Bateman's receiving yard total is set at over/under 48.5 yards.
