Potential Chiefs-Bucs Backup Game Site Revealed Ahead of Hurricane Ian Landfall

The hype for the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 4 matchup on Sunday Night Football has been dimmed by the threat of Hurricane Ian in southern Florida. Depending on the major storm's damage, it's possible this game may be moved to a neutral site, instead of Raymond James Stadium.

One potential backup site has been revealed as these teams try to prepare for this clash.

ESPN's Jeff Darlington reported Monday night that it's "likely" these squads would face off "at a neutral site in the Midwest" if their contest has to be relocated due to weather. Darlington then pointed out Minneapolis as an obvious candidate given the Minnesota Vikings will play the New Orleans Saints in London this week.

Darlington made sure to note plans will remain "fluid" while the league assess the situation in Florida, but it's good for these teams to have an idea of where the game could take place. There's a lot of moving parts going on right now, so knowing the Midwest is the likely fall-back option at least gives the Chiefs and Bucs one less thing to worry about.

Tampa Bay has already made the decision to move practice this week to Miami with Hurricane Ian project to make landfall on Tuesday.

It remains to be seen if the NFL ultimately decides to move this game, which is slated to kick off at 8:20 p.m. on NBC.
