Patrick Cantlay Open Championship 2022 Odds, History, Predictions & How to Watch

Updated:

The Genesis Scottish Open was the final stop on the 2022 PGA Tour before the Open Championship at the famed St. Andrews.

Legacies are made at the Open Championship, especially when it's played at arguably the most famous course in the world, and there are few things as meaningful in the golf world as winning a major tournament.

So, naturally, FanDuel Sportsbook already has tons of odds and prop bets available for the Open Championship in 2022.

Patrick Cantlay British Open Odds

Patrick Cantlay has +2600 odds to win the Open Championship in 2022. There are nine golfers with lower odds than the 2021 FedEx Cup Champion.

Has Patrick Cantlay Ever Won the British Open?

Cantlay has never won the British Open in three appearances.

Patrick Cantlay British Open Prop Bets

As for finishing position, Cantlay is -195 to finish top-40, -135 to finish top-30, +270 to finish top-10 and +490 to finish top-five.

In tournament head-to-head match-ups, Cantlay is a -122 favorite over Collin Morikawa (-108).

Patrick Cantlay British Open History

Cantlay has made three Open Championship starts and made the cut twice. His best finish was T-12 in 2018 at Carnoustie.

Cantlay's best single-round score in the Open Championship was a 69 in Round 2 last year at Royal St. George's when he missed the cut.

Patrick Cantlay British Open Prediction & Pick

Cantlay has not fared too well in his brief British Open appearances. Many top golfers have struggled in links golf during their early career playing on links courses. Yet Cantlay did finish T-12 in his first attempt at tougher Carnoustie in 2018. He also finished T-4 last week in the Scottish Open.

Still, its hard to gauge the No. 4 ranked player in the world's play in the Open Championship. I can't justify a top-10 finish at lower odds for the 2021 Player of the Year and FedEx Cup champion. Cantlay has not contended in a major since 2019, and don't believe he's worth support on grounds not as favorable for his game. He does possess strong short game and putting stats that rank top-5 on Tour over his last 50 rounds. But a top-30 finish (-135) is the best I could consider.
