Pat Freiermuth Provides Update on Foot Injury Ahead of Week 15

Updated:

The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the outside looking in at the playoff picture heading into Week 15. Ahead of a must-win game, Pittsburgh is dealing with several injuries to important players, including tight end Pat Freiermuth.

The TE provided an update on his current foot ailment on Wednesday.

Freiermuth told reporters he suffered the injury on his first catch during his team's Week 14 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Though he didn't practice on Wednesday, he seems confident he'll suit up on Sunday.

This news is a major sigh of relief. Foot injuries have sidelined players throughout the league for various lengths throughout the 2022 campaign, but it appears the Steelers' tight end's issue isn't severe.

Freiermuth was able to play through the injury against Baltimore and eventually scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter, which is a great sign he'll be able to manage it moving forward. Pittsburgh would certainly feel his absence, as the second-year pro ranks No. 2 on the team in targets (82), receptions (53) and yards (630) while tying the lead with 2 TDs.

Hopefully the playmaking TE is able to make good on his word and face the Panthers on Sunday. Pittsburgh is a 2.5-point underdog ahead of that matchup, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
