The San Diego Padres (6-5) and New York Mets (6-5) continue their three-game series with a second encounter at 7:10 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 11.

Monday's meeting ended in a lopsided fashion as the Mets tallied a 5-0 victory over the Padres. San Diego only mustered up two hits over nine innings as Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil led the way for New York, recording one hit and a pair of RBIs apiece.

Can the Padres exact revenge for yesterday's loss? Or will the Mets go up 2-0 ahead of Wednesday's finale?

Padres vs Mets Prediction & Pick

The Padres turn to starting pitcher Ryan Weathers to help rebound from last night's defeat. The 23-year-old southpaw surrendered two runs on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts over five innings in his 2023 campaign debut. Having said that, Weathers does have a 6.35 ERA in 20 career MLB starts.

Meanwhile, the Mets hope that SP David Peterson can pitch better than he did in his latest outing. The Arcadia, CA native couldn't get anything done in a 7-6 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers last Wednesday, giving up five runs, five hits, and five walks over just four innings of work.

While I don't expect the Padres to get shut out again, I do see the Mets winning. Weathers' resumé proves that he can't be trusted until he shows more consistency. He didn't impress too much in his only 2023 appearance and now has to face a New York club that's tallied five-plus runs in four of its last five outings.

Expect the Mets to feed off the momentum from last night's victory to win their second in a row.

Final Score Prediction: Mets: 6 | Padres: 4

Padres vs Mets Best Bet

There's a good chance that fans of both sides will be treated to fireworks tonight. Even though last night's meeting only feature five runs, the over is 10-5 in the Padres' previous 15 road games, as well as 14-6 in the Mets' last 20 as the favorite. Furthermore, San Diego and New York have averaged 8.9 runs over their previous 11 meetings, which is close enough to tonight's total for my liking.

With Weathers and Peterson hardly being reliable starters, don't be surprised if there is no shortage of runs on the board.

Bet: Over 9 Total Runs (-112)
