NL MVP Odds 2022: Paul Goldschmidt Extends Lead as Favorite in Late August on FanDuel Sportsbook
The St. Louis Cardinals are 21-6 in August. The Cardinals star slugger Paul Goldschmidt is one of the best first basemen of his generation, and he's in line to win his first MVP award after extending his odds significantly in the past week.
Goldschmidt is currently -1450 to win the National League MVP award, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. That's up from -270 more than a week ago. He surged from greater than +2200 in early June and hasn't looked back while being challenged by Mookie Betts, Manny Machado, Bryce Harper and Pete Alonso in a National League loaded with strong offensive production.
Now teammate Nolan Arenado (+2500) is the closest pursuer in the NL MVP race. Yet his impressive numbers, especially recently, are not enough to make a dent in his teammates lead, as Goldschmidt returned to the lineup Thursday after a day off and smacked a pair of HRs to reach 33 round trippers for the season.
Goldschmidt leads the National League in batting (.335) and RBs (105) while second in HRs (33) and runs scored (92). His .624 slugging and 1.042 OPS also leas the league.
Goldschmidt has finished third in MVP voting before, and he's been runner-up twice. The seven-time All-Star has four Gold Gloves and four Silver Sluggers, and will be adding an MVP to his trophy case.
Here are the current leaders in National League MVP odds on FanDuel Sportsbook as the pennant chase continues into late August.
